Learn to Fly Taster Day

Buckminster Gliding Club is proud to be hosting a Taster Day on Saturday 6th June 2026 Saturday June 13th 2026 – postponed due to poor weather.

If you’re interested in aviation and in taking up a new and exciting hobby then feel free to join us on the day. You can come along and get to see how a gliding club works and, by booking in advance, take your first gliding lesson and embark on the rewarding journey to becoming a pilot.

You must book a flight experience in advance which will cost £60. This includes a day’s membership, pre-flight briefing from our instructors and a 30 minute first lesson. After your lesson you can take advantage of a taster-day discount on membership if you would like to go further.

There are no age limits on being a passenger in a glider. However you must be between 5ft (152cm) and 6ft 5 (195cm) and under 16 stone (100kg) with the minimum weight being 7 stone (45kg).
You must be capable of climbing into the glider and not suffer from any illness likely to cause a sudden change in your condition (such as epilepsy).  Please call the office should you have any concerns or special requirements.
