Visiting by air

As we are a gliding club Prior Permission Required (PPR) is mandatory for all non-BGC based powered aircraft arriving at Saltby Airfield.  For the purposes of this restriction Powered Aircraft includes Motor Gliders (TMGs) but does not include powered sailplanes whether self-launching or sustainers.  This permission must be requested a minimum of 24 hours prior to the planned arrival and can only be given by BGC’s CFI, DCFI or Tug Master.

Please request PPR by contacting BGC’s Office by telephone on 01476 860385 Monday to Friday 9.00am to 2.00pm with the following information:

  • Aircraft Type & Registration
  • Pilot Name
  • Departure Point
  • Confirm whether the aircraft is FLARM equipped
  • Purpose of Visit and Duration
  • Contact Number & Email Address

The office will then endeavour to make contact with one of the authorising officers to receive permission.  Once you have been informed that permission has been granted, please contact the BGC Duty Instructor on the office number at 9.00am on the day of arrival to confirm the Runway/Circuit in use and you will need to confirm that you have reviewed and will comply with the information contained in the PPR briefing note.  To access the document please click on the link below. PPR requests for non-SLMG or non-Glider/Tug arrivals where the arrival and/or departure times occur when gliding operations are active, will be granted only under exceptional circumstances.
